There is so much here, where do I start

FTS Apollo™ specializes in organizing information, and allowing you to find and analyze a wide variety of information related to Capital Markets, Public and Private Companies, People, Topics and many other areas that are of interest to you. A very common reaction when working through the application for the first time, is "Wow, there is so much here, where do I start?" Read through this article to get some ideas on how to begin using the massive amounts of information available to you through FTS Apollo™.

Initial Landing Page

Once you have gone through your on-boarding, you will be taken to your My News page. This page has been set up using your answers to the on-boarding questions. Initially, browse through the Articles. They will be timely and relevant to you. Click on a Headline. You will be taken to the actual article as published on the Internet. Scroll down through the feed and review everything available. Click on some Entity Type Tags to see which Companies, People, Regions, or Topics are associated with an article. Everything in a News Feed is clickable. Click around. For more information on News Feeds themselves, Click Here.

Searching

Once you have explored My News, try a Search. Begin by typing something into the Search Bar at the top of FTS Apollo™. Entities will automatically be returned as you type.

Quick Tip! - If you can't get an entity result when searching, use a Text Search. Start your typing with ", type the word or words you want to use and close the search term with a ". This will find articles that have that Query String in the article. It is a very simple way to quickly find article mentioning what you are looking for.

Full instructions for Searching are available here.

Filtering

Ok, you have a very nice News Feed with a lot of articles. How do you narrow it down? At the top of the News Feed is a Filter Bar. Use the Filter Bar to further refine your results. Say you want to see news about Apple Inc. and Microsoft. Search for Apple (or AAPL, their Ticker Symbol.md). Get your result. Go to the Filter Bar and type in Microsoft. The result will be all articles with Apple and Microsoft together. You can keep adding filters, including Query Strings until you have exactly the articles you are looking for

Full instructions for Filtering are available here.

Working with an Entity

Once you have searched for something and been given a result, you will also be given the Entity Menu for the Entity. It is above the News Feed box. Click on the options to get more analytics using the Entity Dashboard. If available, there are other menu items avaialble depending on the Type of Entity you are looking at. Things like a Relationship Graph, and Market Data for Public Companies will be available in the menu where appropriate.

More

There are more advanced concepts and capabilities available, but the above will get you started with the application and introduce you to the power of it. If you need more help or would like a demonstration, send an email to [email protected].
