Free Translation

Free Translation is available using the built in translation service available from Chrome. In order to use the service, you must be running Chrome as your browser.

When looking at any News Feed, including searches like similar stories, and article cluster, you can invoke translation by right clicking within the page and choosing Translate to English from the resulting menu.

Translate Menu

This will translate everything you see on the current page into English (or your current Browser langague preference setting). Since this is a capability of Chrome, you might find that it creates side-effects on the actual page in terms of navigation and rendering. It is recommended that you turn the translation off by clicking on Original in the Translated box that is shown once the page has been translated.

Translated Box

When viewing an article, you can invoke translate in the same manner on any web site, giving you the ability to access articles in any translatable language.

Tip

In some situations, Chrome will not pop up the Translated box and you will need to access the translation service from the URL line in the Browser.

Translate Icon

Clicking on the icon will bring the Translation Box back up. I have found that I sometimes have to re-translate the page, even after it was originally translated, in order to successfully re-set the page to its original state.
