Negative Curation

Use Case Description

A specialized version of a curated newsletter is the negative curation newsletter which relies on removing articles that should not be published rather than picking articles that should be published.

Create a Newsletter curation workflow

Workflow's can be used for multiple use cases, including this one which is to allow a curator to remmove specific articles from publication in a monthly newsletter. Full instructions for Creating a Workflow are available HERE. In this case, create a workflow with the following states:

  • New
  • Remove

Negative Curation Workflow

Once the workflow is created, you will need to request that the user's associated with the newsletter be given access to the workflow. When you have finished editing and saving the workflow, capture the workflow ID from the URL.

workflow ID

In the example above, the workflow ID is 63. Send that ID and the list of users who need to be entitled to that workflow tos [email protected]

Create a Negative Curated Newsletter Channel

The channel to be used for publishing is similar to a simple newsletter with one channel stage added to use the negative curation workflow to remove articles you do not want to publish.

Request a Negative Curation Dashboard

A negative curation dashboard can be used to review the candidate articles for the newsletter and remove the ones that you do not want to publish.

Negative Curation Dashboard

The highlights of the curation dashboard are that you can check the articles to be published, mark them to be removed, and then verify which articles will be published in the newsletter.

To request a curation dashboard, send an email to [email protected] with the set of channels you would like to include and the workflow ID you created.
