Trending Entities
One of the interesting [analytics] available is in the Trending Entities navigation widget.
An entity is determined to be trending based on the number of times an article has been captured that contains a tag for that entity over a two hour interval. We call this concept article velocity. This number is then compared to the expected article velocity for that entity using our historical article counts. The higher the difference between those two numbers determines how much a particular entity is trending. Using this information, the Trending Entities Widget will display the entities with the highest trending at the top of the widget.
